Driver Assistance Systems: Safety Through Modern Technology

Modern vehicles are equipped with a multitude of driver assistance systems that support the driver and can prevent accidents. The most common systems include: automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane keeping assist (LKA), adaptive cruise control (ACC), blind spot assistant, as well as reversing cameras and parking aids.

From 2024, the EU requires new vehicle models to be equipped with certain safety systems, including emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, driver drowsiness detection and alcohol interlock preparation (Alkolock). These systems are designed to significantly reduce the number of road deaths in Europe.

Important: Driver assistance systems do not replace attentive and responsible driving. They are aids, not autopilots. Have your assistance systems calibrated regularly – ENBA partner workshops offer this service.
