Using a mobile phone while driving is one of the most common causes of accidents in Germany. Studies show that reaction time when making a phone call while driving is up to 50% longer than when sober – even when using a hands-free device. Texting is particularly dangerous: at 50 km/h, you cover up to 50 metres blindly in the time it takes to write a short message.
The fine for using a mobile phone while driving is €100 and one point in Flensburg. If other road users are endangered, fines increase to up to €200 and two points. In the event of an accident, licence withdrawal and even criminal consequences are threatened.
Put your smartphone away while driving. Safety comes first – also for your passengers and other road users.
